A note on professional accountability

Saakshat operates in alignment with the ethical guidelines established by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), and the Indian Psychological Association (IPA). These guidelines exist not to restrict practice, but to protect clients — to ensure that the power inherent in a therapeutic relationship is never misused. Every commitment listed here reflects not just professional obligation, but personal conviction.

What you can always count on.

These principles are non-negotiable. They apply to every client, every session, and every circumstance — without exception.

Absolute Confidentiality

Everything disclosed within a session remains strictly between you and your counsellor. No information is shared with family members, employers, educational institutions, or any third party without your explicit written consent. The only legally mandated exceptions involve imminent risk to life or clear statutory obligations — and even then, you will always be informed before any disclosure is made.

APA · RCI · IPA Guidelines

Informed Consent at Every Stage

Before any work begins, you will receive a full explanation of the therapeutic process — its scope, its limitations, its goals, and the methods that may be used. Your participation is voluntary and your understanding of what you are consenting to is essential. You are never expected to proceed with something you do not fully understand or agree to.

Client Autonomy & Rights

Non-Discrimination Without Qualification

This practice does not discriminate on the basis of gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, caste, language, socio-economic status, physical ability, or any other characteristic. Every person who seeks support is received with equal dignity. There is no tiered standard of care — the same quality of attention and respect applies universally.

Inclusive & Safe Space

Strict Professional Boundaries

Therapeutic relationships function within clearly defined parameters. Counselling is conducted exclusively through professional channels and formal settings. Personal socialising, dual relationships, or any form of contact that blurs the professional boundary is not permitted. These boundaries are not a form of distance — they are what make the therapeutic space safe and functional.

Professional Integrity

Your Right to Withdraw at Any Time

Participation in counselling is always voluntary. You retain the right to pause, modify, or end the process at any point and for any reason. This right requires no justification. If the current approach is not working for you, that feedback will be welcomed, not defended against. The therapeutic relationship belongs to you.

Client Autonomy

Continuous Professional Development

Clinical competence is not a fixed endpoint. Swastika actively engages in ongoing professional development — including workshops in Rorschach Inkblot Testing, Thematic Apperception Test, Family and Couple Therapy, Advanced Research Methodologies, and Hypnotherapy — alongside participation in national and international conferences. The standard of care you receive reflects continuously updated, evidence-based practice.
